MADERA GIANT

Beyond the limit

Product Description

It has been Alutex’s distinctive feature to offer the most innovative and challenging solutions for the retractable awning market year after year.

Giant is, by its name, the most oversized lateral arm retractable awning today on the American market. With its 20’ possible projection, it will probably remain as such for many years.

Designed to address the most demanding feature market beyond the limit, Giant wants to set the new frontier of retractable shade limits. Although special structural requirements are necessary for this outstanding product, its design can maintain the same elegance typical of the products made to last.

Madera Giant is a double square bar lateral arm extra heavy-duty offering the same versatility as any classical retractable lateral arm awning. With its superior structural strength and projections up to 20’ (the largest today on the market), Giant is installed with two brackets per arm (13” high) and an extra center bracket to maintain the alignment of its two back square bars.

Although minor projections (15’ and 16’) can be installed on regular sidings using the appropriate installation board, reinforced concrete and cinder block siding are highly advised for more giant projections.

Thanks to its impressive strength, Giant’s front clearance can be minimal even with its most enormous projections (i.e., 2’ on 20’).

The giant aluminum frame is offered in a white powder-coated finish, stainless steel hardware, and chained elbows. Custom color frames are available upon request.

CAUTIONARY AND IMPORTANT OPERATING INFORMATION: Retractable Awnings contain strong springs under tension. Retractable awnings are specifically designed to be retracted under inclement weather conditions and be used primarily for sun protection. They are not designed to withstand high winds, heavy rain or snow. During those times, awnings must be fully retracted to prevent damages not covered by warranty.

Product Features

Durable

Engineered to satisfy the most stringent mechanical requirements, its arms are tested to last twice the expected life span commonly referred to by the industry, and its stainless steel cables are protected with a UV-resistant coating to increase their endurance.

They say elegance is to stand inconspicuously. You will appreciate Madera Giant’s generous size and uncommon strength.

Dependable

Built only with the finest materials, Madera Giant frames are finished with electrostatic powder-coated epoxy paint on all its parts to ensure the most durable yet elegant finish against chipping, cracking, and fading. Like all Alutex products, Madera Giant is covered by a ten-year warranty.

Product Highlights

Each Giant arm is connected to the front bar of the awning with a joint to provide a more perfect and smooth rotation of the arm around its front pin.

Because of the high tension of its arms, Giant is supplied with a cradle center support to maintain the perfect fabric alignment along the rolling tube.
Every Giant is provided with 5 installation brackets, 2 for each arm and one to be installed in the center of the awning.
When completely retracted, Giant still withdraws elegantly within few inches from the wall like any other classical lateral arm system.
Every Giant elbow arm is supplied with a stainless steel chain able to control the extremely powerful tension of its springs.
Giant’s front bar has been perceived to offer an extra strong stabilizer against high winds without compromising its elegant look.

Fabrics

Alutex selects only the finest fabric on the market. Please visit the following links and follow the instructions referring to their awning fabric collection:

Hood & Sides

All Alutex awnings are offered with optional hood and hood ends. A hood is an optional aluminum roof for the awning to protect it from snow and rain when fully retracted. Optional hood ends are also available to complete the protective design provided with the hood.

Adjustable Valance

Alutex’s “Drop-down valance” is a front valance system designed to offer adjustable front sun protection on demand with virtually any Alutex retractable lateral arm awning.

This secondary valance is positioned behind the regular valance inside a unique front cassette designed to replace the regular aw- ning front bar. It can be rolled up or down by simply operating a small gear installed at one end of the cassette.

Alutex’s “Drop-down Valance” comes in 4’ height and a maximum 24’ width. It can be made with the same fabric as the awning for color coordination or with a black, cream, gray, or brown sunscreen mesh.

Rain and Wind Stabilizers Legs Kit

With this exclusive front-leg system, Alutex offers an outstanding response to wind and rain loads on virtually all its lateral arm models (not available with Nova).

Hardware-free, these stabilizers are designed with both ends reversible for error-proof installation.
Their top and bottom joints are designed to give in toward the closing direction of the awning, preserving flexibility while neutralizing wind and rain loads.

Warning: Legs must be removed before closing awnings.

Roof Bracket

Roof installation is recommended where insufficient clearance or swing opening doors, drain or gatters happen to be in the way of regular wall installation. One roof bracket for each regular bracket is required.

Each roof bracket is designed to provide an adjustable hinge system able to replicate a virtual wall position along the roof. All Alutex’s roof brackets are offered in the same color of the selected awning frame.

Product Highlights

When we refer to how to motorize an Alutex product, customers can select between two major solutions, with or without override crank service:

Without override service
With override service able to provide manual control in case of blackout
The Eolis 3D WireFreeTM RTS Wind Sensor is a wireless, battery powered wind sensor that will automatically retract an awning based on wind generated movements even when you are away. Battery powered, has an indicator to alert you when the battery needs to be replaced.
Ondeis is a solar-powered combined rain and sun sensor compatible with Radio Technology Somfy® motorized exterior products, including awnings, and screens. The Sensor is completely wireless and uses optical rain-sensing technology to measure rainfall and sends an RTS command when rainfall exceeds the user-selected threshold. The Sensor also utilizes a sun- level sensor that sends an RTS command when sunlight exceeds the user-selected threshold.

With specific reference to their way to be connected to the power source, both motors can be selected as:

Standard Power Solution (hard-wired and controlled by a classical wall switch)

RTS Solution (with plug wire and controlled by a remote transmitter)

The Smoover RTS surface mounted wall switch avoids cutting into drywall. This single channel, battery-operated solution is easy to install and does not require an electrician. Available with 7 decorative color frames , users can easily complement any decor.

The myLink app by Somfy puts you in control, so that you can operate your motorized solutions whether you are home or not. At work and realized you forgot to close your shades for the day? Not a problem. With a simple tap of myLink app you can close all your shades.
